NOVEMBER 10, 2018, AT 5:30 PM, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Each year KCMA hosts an Annual Charity Exhibition where we raise money for a non-profit organization and showcase our student's talents, while providing an enjoyable, family-friendly night out. As martial artists, we are to be humble and care for our community. This is our way to give back to those that need it the most. What better opportunity than the one we have this year, to host an event for adults that are battling cancer and to provide them an opportunity to escape with their family.
Many of you may be wondering how we raise the money for our charity. Like many fundraisers, a walk-a-thon is a very popular way to raise money. KCMA is proud to hold a Break-A-Thon! That's right, breaking boards! We won't go into full details about this until I am able to send you the paperwork as well.
We are looking for Business Sponsorship, Raffle Items, Bake Sale Items, and your very own listing in our brochure that we pass out. If you have a business that is willing to donate, we have many ways that your business can be a sponsor to the event as well as be able to advertise your business. If you yourself would like to sponsor your child and put some words of encouragement in our brochure, we are offering this option as well to do! It would be the equivalent to a Black and White Business Card Ad for $50.
We have made our list of baskets today during our meeting and we will be listing the baskets BY COLOR BELT like we did last year! Please be on the lookout next week for this, along with the bake sale sheets. There will be a lot of papers coming home (I'm sorry ahead of time!) so please, if you have ANY questions, email me!!! That is what I am here for.
Thank you in advance for all those that are sponsors, bring in donations, and make this year's charity event bigger and better than last
A word from Mrs. Grambo, parent of Yudo student at our school, Vice Chair for Life Is Good No Matter What:
"As you have probably heard this year’s Charity Exhibition will benefit the cancer charity Life Is Good No Matter What. My name is Nicki Grambo, and my daughter Angela is in the yudo class. I also serve as Vice Chair for the Board of Life Is Good No Matter What. We grant “escapes” or getaways to adults who have cancer. I, like most people, have had family members who have been affected by cancer. I vividly remember my cousin Bethany telling me how nice it was to take a break from her cancer treatments to visit us over the holidays. She was enthralled in chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and a brief break to visit family was a huge boost to her moral. After learning about this charity I instantly realized the importance of their mission.
After last year‘s Charity Exhibition I met with Ms. Erica to ask her some questions about the event and to try to learn some tips on how to make such a large scale event run so smoothly. During the conversation Ms. Erica mentioned that they were looking for a new charity to benefit, I mentioned Life Is Good No Matter What and our fundraising efforts. Ms. Erica took this information and shared it with the Kim family. After researching Life Is Good No Matter What they graciously chose us to be the recipient charity of the 2018 Charity Exhibition. It is hard for me to put words what a huge deal this is to us, we are not a big charity and we are not a wealthy charity. We run our charity 100% through donations, Life Is Good No Matter What has a very modest overhead so the bulk of the funds that we raise our given to the recipients of the escapes. On behalf of the Board of Life Is Good No Matter What I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Kim family, Ms. Erica and the families of KCMA for your generous support."-Nicki Grambo
